Supply Chain Engineer (Asia)
Why This Role Exists
You’re a US hardware company shipping a product that’s manufactured in Asia. Your supply chain runs through Taiwan, the Philippines, China, or Southeast Asia. You need someone who can be your eyes and ears at the factory — someone who speaks the language, understands the culture, and can walk the production floor.
Remote supply chain management doesn’t work for hardware. Emails to factory contacts get delayed. Quality issues get caught too late. Vendor negotiations lose nuance over Zoom. You need someone in the timezone, in the region, who can show up.
That’s what this role is. A supply chain engineer based in Asia who manages your hardware supply chain ops end-to-end — procurement, vendor relationships, factory coordination, logistics, and quality — so your US team can focus on product and customers.
What You’d Work On
- Factory coordination — liaise with contract manufacturers, monitor production schedules, attend factory audits, flag quality issues early
- Vendor management — source components, negotiate pricing, manage supplier relationships, track lead times and MOQs
- Procurement operations — purchase orders, BOM management, inventory optimization, cost modeling
- Logistics — coordinate shipping, customs, warehousing. Understand incoterms and cross-border compliance
- Quality assurance — incoming inspection coordination, supplier scorecards, corrective action follow-up
- Data and reporting — ERP system management, supply chain analytics, demand forecasting, cost dashboards
Who We’re Looking For
- Asia-based — Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, or broader APAC. Can physically visit factories and suppliers
- Hardware supply chain experience — you’ve managed procurement, logistics, or manufacturing ops for physical products. Semiconductor, consumer electronics, IoT, or industrial hardware preferred
- Bilingual — Mandarin, Tagalog, or other regional language plus strong English. You’re the bridge between the US team and Asia operations
- Technical — comfortable with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), Excel/SQL for analytics, and building procurement tools
- Cross-functional — works with engineering (DFM, BOM reviews), finance (cost modeling, payment terms), and operations (production planning)
- Comfortable with ambiguity — these are startups. Processes aren’t defined yet. You build them
What Makes Worca Different
Most supply chain recruiters place people and walk away. Worca stays in the loop:
- Boots on the ground — our talent is physically in Asia, not managing supply chains from a laptop in the US
- Bilingual by default — every placement speaks the local language and English fluently
- Factory-ready — our talent can walk a production floor, attend audits, and negotiate with suppliers face-to-face
- Continuous engagement — Worca manages employment, payroll, and compliance. When one engagement ends, we match to the next
- USD compensation — competitive rates benchmarked to the role, not local market floors
Engagement Structure
- Type: Contract (hourly or monthly) or full-time
- Trial: 2-4 week trial project
- Timezone: Asia-based, US hours overlap as needed
- Location: Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, or broader APAC — must be able to visit factories in-region
